Obituary

Marvin Raymond Horstmeier, 82, passed to be with his Lord on December 27, 2012.
He was born in Davis, Illinois on September 28, 1930 to Raymond and Anna (Schurch) Horstmeier. He graduated from Dakota High School 1949, University of Wisconsin Farm Short Course 1951. He enlisted in United States Air Force 1951-1955 and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. While in service he attended North Dakota State School of Science receiving a Degree of Administration.
Marvin and Marie Brown were married September 6, 1952 at Durand United Methodist Church. Marvin farmed all his life on farms on Goeke Road. He enjoyed working with his family. Marvin was a member of Davis United Methodist Church, Evening Star Lodge 414 A.F. and A.M. Davis for over 60 years. Scottish Rite Valley of Freeport, Freeport Shrine Club, Freeport T-Ten Club, Swords of Bunker Hill, Stockton, Tebala Shrine of Rockford, 50 year member of Davis Order of Eastern Star #470, Capernaum White Shrine of Jerusalem #4 Freeport, and Winnebago County Farm Bureau.
Survived by his wife, Marie, sons Merle (Jamie) Horstmeier, Mark (Susan) Horstmeier, daughter Margo (Jefre) Turman all of Davis.
Grandchildren Michael Horstmeier, Davis, Matthew (Monica Musselman) Horstmeier, Durand, Ryan (Kelly) Thiel, Elkridge, MD, Cari Kettleson, Holly (Stephen) Olson, Alex Turman, Eric Turman all of Davis.
Great grandchildren Noah Musselman, Caiden Horstmeier, Brody and Lexi Kettleson, Alessandra and Brennan Olson Brother Roger (Barbara) Horstmeier, Cape Haze, FL, Sister Sharon (Gary) Boeger, Davis, Maryann (Larry) Stubbe, Dakota, Sister-in-law Sharon (Garland) McHenry, Valrico, FL. Aunts Gertrude Schneeberger, Brodhead, WI, Sylvia Thoren, Freeport, Uncle Fred Schurch, Davis, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by parents, sister Marcia, grandson James and five aunts.
Funeral at Davis United Methodist Church, 511 E Snyder Street, Davis on Monday, December 31 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor James Ketzel presiding. Visitation will also be at the church on Sunday, December 30 from 2 - 5 p.m. with a masonic service at 5 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Davis Church, Freeport Learning Center, Chicago Children's Masonic Hospital. Burial in Davis Cemetery.
Special thanks to the physicians and nursing staff at St. Anthony Medical Center for the wonderful care given to Marvin during the last few weeks of his life.
