Freeport: Mary L. Bowers, 79, of Freeport died Wednesday May 28, 2008 at FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport. Born August 22, 1928 in Freeport she was the daughter of Albert and Martha (Schaeffer) Gordon. On May 10, 1947 she married Harold Bowers in Freeport. Mary worked at Micro Switch for 32 years, retiring in 1986, she was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Fidelis Circle, Concordia Society and the Alter guild. She enjoyed crocheting filet patterns, going to church activities with friends and dearly loved spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Harold, one son Gerald "Jerry" (Jodie) Bowers of Adeline; two grandsons, Jeremy and Joseph Bowers; One step granddaughter, Casandra Ferris; One great grandson Hunter Bowers; One step great granddaughter Summer Peterson; Two Brothers, James (Ellen) Gordon and Donald (Barbara) Gordon both of Freeport; One Sister, Jean Wilson of Ogden, Utah; and a very special niece Ingrid Wolbers. She was preceded in death by her Parents. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Reverend Dr. Willis Schwictenberg and Vicar Philip Robarge officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Freeport. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Freeport. Memorials have been established in her name for Immanuel Lutheran Church and the American Lung Association.
