Rockford-Mary A. Hageman, of Rockford, formerly of Freeport, died Wednesday, January 4, 2006, at her home in Rockford following a long illness.
Born December 4, 1922 in Freeport she was the daughter of Chester and Gladys (Welch) Sargent. She married Vere L. Hageman December 26, 1948 in Freeport.
A graduate of Freeport High School she worked at Burgess Battery, Freeport Library and Furst McNess.
Her memberships included Embury United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir, Amity Society, and Women's Guild.
Mary enjoyed going out to dinner with friends, listening to jazz music, dancing, reading, and playing bridge
Surviving is her husband, Vere of Rockford; her son, Chad (Teresa) Hageman; and her grandson, Adam Hageman all of Caledonia; and her dog, Crystal.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Bernard "Bud" Sargent and John Sargent.
Cremation rites have been accorded
Memorial services will be Saturday 11 a.m. at Embury United Methodist Church, 515 S. Galena in Freeport with Reverend D. Robin Benson and Reverend William Blomberg officiating.
Following the service there will be a luncheon served in the Fellowship Hall of the church.
Burial of her cremated remains will be in the Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her name.
