Mary E. Kirkpatrick, 91, of Freeport, died Saturday, February 23, 2013, at FHN Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family.

Born May 21, 1921 she was the daughter of John and Susie (Reider) Hawes.
Mary was a graduate of Freeport High and worked at Micro Switch for 32 years. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, and loved to volunteer her time there.

Mary loved sports and for many years on Friday nights she and her sister Essie could be found in the stands at Freeport High football and basketball games. She was a member of the "Golden Girls Foursome" that played golf every week day morning at Park Hills. An avid Cub and Bears fan she attended as many games as she could. Mary also enjoyed playing cards and dominos and especially loved feeding the deer.

She was known to brag about having the "best" grandchildren in the world. She is survived by her three sons; Gary of Shawano, WI, Jon (Pat) of Acworth GA, and Gregg of Freeport; Proud grandmother of Kim, Kelly, Kiera, Christi, Kevin, Jaime, Erin, Lisa, and Tommy; Fond great grandmother of Landon, Marlee, Norah, Olivia, Myah, Keegan, Christian, Parker, Jackson, Brianna, Ashlinn, and Destinee; Dear friend of Don and Phyllis Mullarkey, Ruth Wardlow, Shirley Diestelmeier, Arlene Olson, Jerry and Donna Nevenhoven; nieces, nephews & great nephews.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers Glen, Ray, Earl and Jack Hawes, and two sisters, Jennie Fogel and Esther Harnish.

Visitation will be on Friday, March 1 from 4-7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary in Freeport.
Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013 at First Lutheran Church.
Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for First Lutheran Church.
