Mary Lou Koester, 80, of Freeport, formerly of Scales Mound, died Thursday February 12, 2015, at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born January 20, 1935, in Jo Daviess County, she was the daughter of Elmer and Myrtle Lyda (Gates) Rogers.
Mary Lou was a loving, nurturing, mother who took great pleasure in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren.
She enjoyed and appreciated art, music, and literature.
Surviving are her children, Teresa (William) Bernard of Freeport, Jim (Karen) Koester of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Kelly (Chris) Koester and Michael Koester both of Scales Mound, Scott (Kimberly) Koester of Downers Grove, and Nicholas (Judith) Koester of Monroe, Wisconsin; her sister, Helen (Robert) Bastian; her brother, Gregory (Rosemary) Rogers both of Freeport; 14 grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Polly and Marjorie and three brothers, Hugh Lee, Douglas and Dayne.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
There will be a wake for family and friends from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, February 22, 2015, followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church Freeport.
Immediately after the service all are invited to join the family for refreshments in the church Fellowship Hall.
