Mary E. Lee, age 83 of Freeport, IL, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at WinnPrairie in Freeport. She was born on November 18, 1938 in Marathon, IA; the daughter of the late Lawerance and Mary June (Grey) Keyes. Mary married James Lee on June 19, 1960; he passed on March 13, 2022.

She graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor's Degree. Mary was homemaker, lovingly raising her family over the years. She also volunteered throughout the community. She volunteered at Amity's Attic and was a member of L.I. PEO Chapter. Her passion was quilting and had numerous quilts displayed in state-wide quilting shows. Mary was also an avid gardener and loved spending time with family. She especially loved trips to the family lake house.

Mary is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Melissa Kiple) Lee of West Burlington, IA, Brian (Sharon) Lee of Mission Viejo, CA, and Jennifer (Terri Apking) Lee of Freeport, IL; 6 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, James.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, May 17th at 1pm at Harmony United Methodist Church with a light dessert reception to follow. Condolences may be shared at www.walkermortuary.com . A memorial has been designated in her name for the Alzheimer's Association and FHN Hospice.
