Freeport – Mary (Boback) Loper, 93 of Freeport died at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 24th. Born in Pontiac, Michigan on August 1, 1926 to Andrew and Mattie (Garnett) Boback. She lived in Freeport for 63 years raising her family that she was very proud of. She married Lester Loper on February 19, 1945 in Hazel Park, Michigan. He died March 4, 2005.
She thoroughly enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. She was an avid reader, walker and she loved sitting on her front porch swing. This was her favorite spot in the summer.
She worked for Micro Switch for many years and she was proud to be a part of the Quarter Century Club of Micro.
She is survived by her two sons, Roger (Marilyn) Loper of Freeport and Terry (Laura) Loper of Cedar Falls, IA. Her two daughters, Bonnie (Edward Thrall) Lange and Mary Ann Bauscher of Freeport. Also her sister, Carol Mason of Florida. She has 6 grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren including, Tawny Loper who was her personal caregier and 3 Great, Great Grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Tawny (Baine) Loper and her brothers, Joseph, David, Robert, Frank and sisters, Esther, Ann and Bertha.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 2nd from 4-7 pm at Walker Mortuary, Freeport. Services will be on Friday, July 3rd at 11am at Faith United Methodist, Freeport with a 1 hour visitation prior to the service starting at 10am. Masks will be required for the public to attend according to Faith United Methodist and the City of Freeport guidelines for public gatherings in phase 4.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Alzheimer's Association and to Faith United Methodist, Freeport.
