Mary Darlene Mills, age 79 went to be with the Lord on December 20, 2014 surrounded by her family at Freeport Rehabilitation & Care Center. Born March 20, 1935 in Dubuque, Iowa in 1935 the daughter of Sherman & Laura (Hayes) Miller. Her family moved to Lena when she was young and remained in the Lena, Freeport, and Ridott area for the rest of her life. She graduated from Freeport High School in1953. She worked at North Western Telephone Co. and Structo. She married Delmar Mills on May 17, 1968. She attended Eagles Christian Fellowship for over 35 years and was the church secretary and also on the usher board. Surviving are her husband, daughter Cathy (Dave) Wilson of German Valley; stepchildren Vernon (Laurie) Mills, Sherry (Duane) Wenzel and Shelby Douglas all of Freeport; sister-in-law Lois Steffen of Freeport; brother-in-law Jessie Newman of Ashville, NC; two grandsons Matthew Wilson of Freeport and Bradley (Corinne) Wilson of Lincoln, IL; ten step-grandsons and nineteen great grandchildren.
Deceased are her parents; two brothers, Sherman and Kenneth and stepson Victor Mills.
A private service will be held for the family at Walker Mortuary.
Burial will be in the Gund Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for American Cancer Society.
