Freeport-Mary Eloise Myers, 82, of Freeport, died Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at Provena St. Joseph Nursing Center.
Born July 23, 1923 in Maquoketa, Iowa she was the daughter of Alfred and Rose (Pauli) Lary. She married Harlan Myers December 6, 1952 and he preceded her in death.
She graduated with a Nursing diploma from Jane Lamb Hospital in Clinton, Iowa in 1944 and graduated from Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, Washington in 1948 receiving her post graduate in Anesthesia.
She worked at St. Francis Hospital until its closing and then she was at Freeport Memorial Hospital until her retirement.
She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ.
Mary was an avid Cub fan who enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving is her daughter, Gwen (Jim) Drew of Cedarville; one son, David (Linda) Myers of Carol Stream; her sister, Mildred Prehn of Clinton, Iowa; 4 grandchildren, Cherie (Tim) Rucker of Freeport, Rachel (Josh) Woker of Rockford, Melissa Myers of Oswego, and Angie (fiancé Phil Lawless) Drew of Bloomington; 3 great grandchildren, Austin and Kaleb Rucker, and Cadence Woker.
Her parents; husband; one infant sister; 3 brothers, Ben, Wilmer and Merlin Lary preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John United Church of Christ with Reverend Donnley Dutcher officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Thursday 4 to 7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
A memorial has been established in her name.
