Ridott – Mary Ann Shelly of Ridott passed away at Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford on Friday, October 15 ^th .  She was born on December 13, 1937 in Freeport to the late Albert and Clara (Schlamp) Oppold.  She married Larry Shelly on June 18, 1955.  Together they raised five children.  She was a member of the Eagles Auxillary, Moose Auxillary and St. Catherine's Catholic Church.  She enjoyed sewing, gardening and presiding as an election judge for many years for Ridott Township and Stephenson County.

Surviving her are her children, Kirk (Marsha) Shelly of Davis; Lisa (Terry) Starliper of Freeport and Mark (Darla) Shelly of Davis.  Her siblings include two sisters, Lucille Miller and Anna Mae Diffenbaugh both of Freeport.  Her legacy includes 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Larry; her son, Leon Shelly and daughter, Jill Homan; her brothers, William and Charles Oppold as well as an infant sister.

A visitation will take place on Thursday, October 21 ^st from 4-7pm at Walker Mortuary.  A service will follow on Friday, October 22 ^nd at 10am also at Walker Mortuary with Pastor Leslie Stanford officiating from Dakota-Rock Grove United Methodist Church.  Her final resting place will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
