Freeport – Matthew J. Nelson, 50 of Freeport passed away at FHN on May 1, 2022.  He was born on June 30, 1971 to Harry and Beate (Brechis) Nelson.

Matthew loved to play the guitar in a band in his younger years.  He enjoyed playing soccer and the going to the beaches in Florida.

He is survived by his parents, his sister, Dawn Nelson and his children Elizabeth and Jason as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Tina Nelson, his Grandparents Bernice and Harry Nelson Sr. and his cousin, Kerry Schlueter who were sure to be waiting for his arrival in heaven.
