Freeport – Maureen (Sue) Giffrow, 87 of Freeport passed away on February 28, 2024 at Provena St. Joe's Ascension Living in Freeport.  She was born on January 13, 1937 to Charles and Mabel (Bartholomew) McDermott.  She married David Griffrow in Rockton, IL on September 27, 1985.

She enjoyed Jazz clubs and the Chicago Cubs.  Coming from a family of fine artists, she took great joy in painting, sketching, the fine arts, mid-century and vintage décor.

Surviving her are her daughters, Dianna (Colin) Carey of Freeport and Mary (Craig) Busch of Savanna, IL and her son, Tim Busch of Freeport.  She also leaves behind a sister, Patricia (Harvey) McDermott Caine of Spokane, WA.  Her legacy includes many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Charles Busch and a daughter, Sharie Duarte.  A sister, Jennifer (Steve) McDermott Christenson also precedes her in death.

The family of Sue would like to thank the wonderful staff and caregivers of FHN hospital, St. Joseph's and FHN Hospice.

There will be a visitation on Monday, March 4th beginning at 10:30am and a service to follow at 11:30am.  Her final resting place will be at Oakland Cemetery in Freeport.  Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com.
