Freeport: Melissa Sue "Mitzi" Loring, 41 of Freeport died Thursday March 9, 2006 at her home. Born October 31, 1964 in Freeport she was the daughter of Donald E. Loring and Dorothy J. (Lindgren) Loring Lief. Melissa attended Crossroads Community Church and was an avid animal lover. She is survived by her Mother Dorothy Loring Lief, one daughter Michelle Althafer, one son, Michael Althafer, two sisters, Hope (Steve) Bradford and Mary Jane (Sam) Ferguson, two brothers, David A. (Sue Ault) Loring and Daniel E. (Sherry) Loring, one grandson Tyler Mashaw and her Cat Sabrina "Pain." She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Loring, step father, Iner Lief and one sister Holly Ann Loring. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-4 pm at Walker Mortuary. Cremation rites will follow the visitation. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday at the Chapel of Peace in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in her name.
