Freeport- Melissa J. Wittbecker, 45, of Freeport died Saturday June 17, 2006 at FHN Memorial Hospital. Born December 28, 1960 in West Chester PA, she was the daughter of John and Mary Jane Garrett. Melissa grew up in Dixon and was a graduate of the nursing program at Sauk Valley College. She and Craig Wittbecker were married on September 25, 1999 in Freeport. She worked for various long term healthcare facilities including Provena St. Joseph and Medina Nursing Home in Durand. She was a member of Freeport Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband Craig of Freeport; one son Josh Keister; one daughter Sarah Keister both of Freeport; her father John Garrett of Sun City West, AZ; mother in law Mona Wittbecker of Freeport; three sisters Mary Jane Garrett of Bensenville, Meg (Joe) Unger of Polo, Myra Oelrichs of Sterling; 2 aunts, 3 uncles, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father in law, 2 uncles, one aunt and sister in law.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4pm until 7pm at Walker Mortuary in Freeport.
Funeral service will be 10:30 Thursday at Walker Mortuary with the Reverend Kurt Strong of Freeport Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
