Merci R. Rodriguez, age 81 of Freeport, IL, passed away at home on Sunday, July 4, 2021. He was born in Selma, Texas on September 24, 1939, to Heliodoro Rodriguez and Andrea (Rojas) Rodriguez. He married Dr. Donna Cox-Rodriguez on November 1, 1986.

Merci faithfully and honorably served his country in the United States Army. He also served as Federal Employee of the United States Postal Service, retiring after 30 plus years of service. He enjoyed fishing, camping, breakfast, and a good movie with popcorn. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his sons, Tom Haiklas, George McDonald, and Arturo (Monica) Rodriguez; daughter, Andrea (Brian) Myzia; 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and brother, John Rodriguez. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dr. Donna Cox-Rodriguez; parents, Heliodoro and Andrea Rodriguez; son, Christopher Rodriguez; and brother, Arturo D. Rodriguez.
