Merle H. Ostergard, age 64 of Rock City, IL passed away Thursday December 12, 2024 surrounded by his loving family at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford. He was born September 8,1960 the son of the late Harvey and Carolyn (Geiken) Ostergard. Growing up, Merle enjoyed Boy Scouts and camping. He graduated from Dakota High School in 1979. During his career Merle worked on farms, drove truck, and he worked at Dean Foods for almost 15 years. Merle retired from Werhane Enterprises where he worked the last 18 years. Merle was definitely the jokester of the family and he was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.

He is survived by his mother, Carolyn Ostergard, partner Tamela "TJ" Mather, 3 Daughters Carrie Ostergard, Mindy Kohl and Taylor Ostergard, 1 son Matthew (Sabrina) Ostergard, 3 step-children Chris (Brandi) Mather, Brian (Jackie) Mather, and Veronica Mather. 9 grand children, 8 step grandchildren, 1 Great Grandson, 2 sisters Christine (Thom) Jewell, Anita Ostergard and brother Jerry (Tricia) Ostergard, many nephews and nieces, great nephew's and nieces, several other loving family members and special friends.

He is preceded in death by his father Harvey Ostergard.
