Freeport: Merle A. Rowland, 84 died Sunday June 12, 2005 at FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport. Born July11, 1920 in rural Loran, IL he was the son f Charles and Flossie (Bowden) Rowland. On February 26, 1950 he Married Phyllis Kaney in Forreston, IL. Merle farmed in the area for many years and then worked for Newell Company retiring in 1973. He was a member of Church of the Brethren. Surviving is his wife Phyllis of Freeport, one son Dennis of Lakeland, FL, one brother, Charles of Oregon, WI, four sisters, Evelyn Fiese of Arizona, Ardith DeMontigney of Beloit, Betty Jones, Ruth Earle both of Freeport, three grandchildren, Damon Rowland, David Rowland, Donovan Rowland and Danielle Rowland. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters.
