FREEPORT- Mervin "Pete" Brinkmeier 82 of Freeport died Sunday January 30, 2005 at his home.
Born September 1, 1922 in Loran, he was the son of Arthur and Lydia (Beyers) Brinkmeier. He and Violet Bardell were married September 1, 1945 in Freeport.
Mr. Brinkmeier farmed for many years, later working for Patterson's Lumber Co. hauling coal and Burgess Battery. He enjoyed bowling and running his own mowing service after his retirement. He was a member of the Moose Lodge No. 162 and the Moose Legion.
He is survived by his wife of Freeport, one daughter Lori Brinkmeier of Freeport; six sons Gary (Sharon) Brinkmeier of Warren, David (Sue) Brinkmeier of Forreston, Virgil (Judy) Brinkmeier of Rockford, Michael (Karen) Brinkmeier of Freeport, Ken (Sandy) Brinkmeier of Lena, Jeff (Deb) Brinkmeier of Freeport; daughter in-law, Diana Brinkmeier of Freeport; 17 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; 3 brothers Jerold (Judy) Brinkmeier of Morrison, Dennis Brinkmeier of Lena, Keith (Pat) Brinkmeier of Sycamore; seven sisters Evelyn Buss of Shannon, Elaine (Glenn) Bicker of Lanark, Merna (Glenn) Kampmeier of Freeport, Doris Ditsworth of Freeport, Arlene Camerer of Freeport, Betty (Keith) Kohn of McConnell, Lavonne (Gene) Liphart of Arkansas.
Preceding him in death are his parents, one son Daniel, one brother and two sisters.
Funeral service will be held 2:00pm Wednesday February 2, 2005 at Walker Mortuary.
Visitation will be 12 noon until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in his name.
