Michael LaVerne Brendemuehl, age 76 of San Tan Valley, AZ, formerly of Freeport, IL, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at The Villa in Mesa, AZ. He was born July 20, 1940 in Lancaster, WI to the late LaVerne and Helen (McNitt) Brendemuehl. He graduated from Lancaster High School where he played football. Michael married Phyllis Baldwin on March 18, 1961.
He had served in the United States Navy, Petty Officer Third Class, from 1958 - 1961, and was stationed on the U.S.S. Fred T. Berry. He worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service from 1969 to 2004 when he retired to Arizona. Michael enjoyed woodworking and wood carving, bowling, and collecting. He also enjoyed watching football, he was an avid Packer fan. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.
He is survived by his sons, Michael J. (Eileen) Brendemuehl of Plainfield, IL, Kerry Brendemuehl of Freeport, and Eric (Kelly) Brendemuehl of Freeport; daughter, Tanya (Keith) Foster of Freeport; grandchildren, Caitlyn Brendemuehl, Jared Brendemuehl, Erica Brendemuehl, Casadi Brendemuehl, Aleah Brendemuehl, Carson Brendemuehl, Evan Brendemuehl, and Sarah Foster; great grandchildren, Matthew, Bentley and Jose; and sister, JoEllen McDowell. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Debra Brendemuehl.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Hillside Cemetery in Lancaster, WI. A memorial fund has been established
