Ridott – Michael J. Lentz, 58 of Ridott, Illinois passed away suddenly at home on Monday, September 23, 2024. He was born on July 26, 1966, in Rockford IL, to Karl and Sandra (Ceroni) Lentz. Michael graduated from Dakota High School in 1985, where he was an enthusiastic member of the school band, playing the drums. Michael dedicated many years of his career to working as a Security Officer for Newell. He also contributed his skills to the Freeport and Monroe advertiser newspapers.

Mike had a remarkable talent for crocheting and knitting, with a special fondness for creating sock monkeys as gifts for others.  As wedding gifts, he crocheted Afghans in their wedding colors for both of his brothers.  He lovingly crocheted unique Afghans for each of his nephews and niece as they joined the family.  Over the years, he crafted numerous Christmas gifts, each with different styles, designs, and colors.

He enjoyed helping people whenever and wherever he could. Michael was described as having a heart of gold. He loved being outdoors.

He is survived by his mother, Sandra of Ridott. His brothers, Dan (Joleen) Lentz of Oregon, WI and Terry (Karena) Lentz of Freeport.  He is also survived by his nephews, Tyler Lentz, Rumen Lentz and Nolan Lentz as well as his niece, Mercedes Lentz.

He is preceded in death by his Father, Karl Lentz, his paternal grandparents Myron (Mike) and Marcella (Heitkam) Lentz, his maternal grandparents John and Emma (Alich) Ceroni Jr, his cousin Tammy Ceroni and many aunts and uncles.

There will be a visitation on Friday, September 27, 2024, beginning at 10 am and a service to follow at 11am all at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Chapel of Peace.
