Michael J. Mannino, 26, of Rockford died Tuesday, January 20, 2009, at his home in Rockford. Born January 10, 1983, in Santa Ana, CA, he was the son of Daniel and Marty (Hottell) Mannino. He worked at Menard's in Rockford as a security guard after selling cars at Napelton Auto Werks for 3 years; he was also a volunteer firefighter for the Cherry Valley Fire Department. He is survived by his mother and step-father Marty (Ralph) Holesinger of Cedarville; father Daniel Mannino of Sun City, CA.; brother Matt (Jenny) Mannino of Freeport; sister Andrea (Mike) Barthel of Freeport; two nephews Anthony and Dominic Mannino of Freeport; paternal grandparents Frank & Joanne Mannino of Irving, CA, maternal grandparents Alice H. Conklin of Akron, OH, Ken (Carol) Hottell of Mesa, AZ, step-grandparents Vernon and Mary Holesinger of Mt. Carroll; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be Thursday 9am until 11am at Walker Mortuary. Funeral service will be 11:00am at Walker Mortuary with the Reverend Dennis Jarrard of Laurel Street Community Church officiating.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the service.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
