Freeport – Mildred J. Bowman, 80 of Freeport passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025 at Mercy Hospital in Rockford, IL.  Millie was born May 25, 1945 in Galena, Il to Walter and Esther (Kuntz) Runkle.

She married Dan Bowman on Feb 5, 1966 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lena, Illinois.  She retired from Micro Switch after 35 years.  She loved reading, volunteering at the book store and eating out with friends and family.  She was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church of Freeport.

She is survived by two sisters, Marilyn of Nora, Illinois and Marlene of Palmer, Alaska.  Three brothers, Richard (Robyn) of Warren, Illinois; Alvin (Sandy) of Oakland, Arkansas and Dale (Mariann) of Watertown, WI and a special nephew, Jack Martin of Freeport.

Millie was preceded by her parents and 7 siblings, Edwin, Bernita, Alberta, Wayne, Eldon, Melvin and Ronald.

Millie's visitation will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Freeport on Pearl City Rd, Tuesday, December 9, 2025 from 10-11am.  Her memorial service will immediately follow at 11am also at the church.
