Freeport: Mildred G. Schroeder, 91 of Freeport passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at the Manor Court in Freeport. Born January 31, 1916 in Boone County, Illinois, she was the Daughter of Herman and Amelia (Kuntzmann) Koch. She married Arnold W. Schroeder, January 25, 1941 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Belvidere, IL. She is survived by her two daughters, Charmaine (Richard) Moyer of Palo Alto, CA, and Jerene (Kenneth) Januski of Philadelphia, PA, two grandsons, Geoffrey and Jonathon Moyer of Palo Alto, CA., sister Trudy Swanson of Belvidere, brother Floyd "Bob" Koch of Belvidere, along with nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, and three sisters. Mildred was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran since January 1941. She belonged to the Concordia Society and active in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She was a cook and kitchen manager of the cafeteria at Immanuel Lutheran School for many years. Later years found her serving as the coordinator of the prayer chain for the church. She was involved in volunteer work since her retirement in 1981. Her interests besides her family and church were gardening and flowers. Her funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Reverend Dr. Willis Schwichtenberg and Vicar Philip Robarge officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery and Mausoleum. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 am until the time of service at the church. A memorial has been established in her name for the Immanuel Lutheran Church hot lunch program.
