Mildred B. Springman, 89, of Freeport, died Sunday, December 23, 2012, at Mercy Medical in Clinton, Iowa.
Born October 8, 1923 in Eveleth, Minnesota she was the daughter of Raymond and Iva (Willis) Meyer. She married Robert A. Springman October 13, 1942 and he died December 5, 1996.
Mildred grew up in Sciota Mills, lived on the family farm by Sciota until 1965.
She worked at Furst-McNess for several Years.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Mildred enjoyed boating on the Mississippi and camping in their Airstream, enjoying winters in Florida, sewing, reading and doing crosswords, and was an avid Cubs fan. Millie was quick to laugh and her quick humor was appreciated until the very end.
Surviving are her son, Rodney Springman, daughter Dianne (Don) Steinhagen, daughter-in-law Jackie Springman, granddaughter Hilary Springman, grandson Anthony Springman, step grandchildren Natalie Stoner, Jack Stoner, Diane (Ted) Williams, Karen (Mike) Hand, Neil (Rebecca) Steinhagen, great granddaughter Chelsi, seven step great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren, sisters Betty (John) Heiden, Dona (Ron) Dornink, Elaine (Homer) Tackett, Patricia (Hollie) Sellman, sister-in-law Edna Meyer, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son (David), granddaughter (Tracey), two sisters (Evelyn Durling, Irma Ludolph), brother (Kenneth), two brothers-in-law (Jack Durling and Morris Ludolph).
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Walker Mortuary. There will be a gathering for friends and relatives Thursday 12:30 p.m. until time of service at Walker Mortuary.
A memorial has been established for First United Methodist Church.
