Mildred R. Wood , age 95 of Freeport, IL, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at the Stephenson Nursing Center in Freeport. She was born February 11, 1922; the daughter of the late Harry and Edna (Fortner) Smith. She married Cecil B. Wood on May 29, 1953.

Mildred was a homemaker and volunteered at the Freeport Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for 20 years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Freeport and an RSVP member for 25 years. She enjoyed playing cards and belonged to a local card club.

She is survived by her son, Leo Kottman of IA; grandchildren, Darin Miller, Kristine Hillyard, Michael & Morgan, and Matthew & Mark; three great grandchildren; niece and care giver, Cynthia Boeke of Freeport; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cecil; and daughter, Karen Miller.
