Freeport-Milton E. Wilke, 89, of Freeport, died Friday, March 24, 2006, at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born December 22, 1916 in Green Lake County, Wisconsin he was the son of Paul and Louise (Erdman) Wilke. He married Vernice Krueger September 15, 1945.
He graduated from Ripon College in 1938 and received his M.S. in Physics from Texas A & M in 1940.
Milton was an engineer with Burgess Battery for 34 years. He was responsible for several patents and retired in 1975 as Chief Engineer.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he was a men's club member, former Elder and on the Board of Trustees. He was past chairman of Immanuel Lutheran School Board.
Surviving is his wife, Vernice of Freeport; one son, Paul (Debra) Wilke of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Tera Hoefle, Ben and Elissa Wilke; and his "second" daughter, Jan (Wes) Wescott of Freeport.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son; 1 daughter, Mary; and his brothers, Leo and Clarence.
Funeral service will be Tuesday 1 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Reverend Willis Schwichtenberg officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Monday 4 to 7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary
A memorial has been established for Immanuel Lutheran Church.
