Obituary

Myra Stenzhorn, age 87 of Freeport, IL, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, September 13, 2017. She was born October 8, 1929; the daughter of the late Frederick Ernest and Myra (Vickers) Regez. She was a 1948 graduate of Freeport High School. Myra married Carl Stenzhorn on December 18, 1949; he passed on April 29, 2008.

She had worked at Micro Switch for 7 years. She was a member of Zion Church of Freeport where she was active in the prayer chain ministry. Myra and Carl were also very active in the bus ministry of the church. She enjoyed reading and was an avid NASCAR and Chicago Bulls fan. Myra's family was everything to her and she loved planning and cooking for family get-togethers. She dedicated her life to raising her children and her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra (Kelly) Hayenga of Freeport; son, Brian (former wife, Catherine "Catie") Stenzhorn of Cedarville, IL; grandchildren, David (Sami Roth) Hayenga, Kristina (Austin) Genandt, Megan (Billy) Helgerson, Heather Stenzhorn, and Joshua Stenzhorn; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl; brothers, Robert, Donald, Kenneth, Ervin and Ernest; niece, Peg; nephews, Donald K. and Richard; and sister-in-law, Elsie Nelms.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 19 th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Walker Mortuary in Freeport. The funeral service will be Wednesday, September 20 th at Zion Church in Freeport at 10:00 am. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established in her name.
