IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nadine E.
Strohecker
July 30, 1926 – June 11, 2025
Freeport – Nadine E. Strohecker, 98 of Freeport passed away peacefully with her son holding her hand at Presence St. Joseph Living Community on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. She was born on July 30, 1926 to the late John and Gertrude (Solace) Bussian. After finishing school, she and Harry Strohecker were married on August 3, 1946 and together they built a life of love and friendship. Harry passed from this life on September 23, 2009.
Nadine was the kind of person whose presence brought calm and comfort to every room she entered. Gentle and warm, she had a heart full of grace and a way of making everyone feel deeply cared for. She never needed to raise her voice to be heard—her kindness spoke louder than words ever could.
There was never a crossword to say about Nadine. She lived with quiet dignity and compassion, treating others with patience, respect, and sincere love. She listened more than she spoke, gave more than she took, and made people feel safe just by being near.
Nadine had a rare gift for making people feel seen. Whether she was offering a cup of tea, a soft laugh, or a knowing smile, she gave her full attention without distraction or judgment. With Nadine, you always felt like you mattered.
Whomever she met became an immediate friend. Nadine was known for her amazing pies that she would bake for her friends, family, and local restaurants of the past such as the Unicorn and the Sizzle Shop. She loved to travel and spend time with her family and friends. Her favorite flower was anything purple.
She is survived by her son, Mark (Andrea) Strohecker of Hayward, CA; 5 grandchildren Dan (Ann) Strohecker, Amy (Jeff) Johnson, Roz (Tim) Ragan, Beth Strohecker, and Victoria Strohecker; Daughter-in-law, Karen Strohecker of Pearl City.
There are also 7 great grandchildren; Drew Strohecker, Delanie Anderson, Alyssa Pittner, Hailey Johnson, Tristan Ragan, Brennan Ragan and Jill Ragan.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry; a son, Michael Strohecker; a sister, LaVonne Mead and a brother Bob Bussian.
There will be a visitation on Friday, June 27 beginning at 10am at Walker Mortuary. A service will immediately follow at 11am, also at Walker Mortuary. A luncheon will follow the burial at the Freeport Eagles club at approximately 1pm. Her final resting place will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, next to her husband, Harry.
Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been designated in her name.
