Freeport – Nancy Lee Lassiter, 75 of Freeport passed from this life on January 30, 2024 at FHN Memorial Hospital.  She was born on February 27, 1948 in Freeport, IL.  Nancy was the daughter of Eaton and Florence (Bertram) Yokers.  Nancy lived in Pecatonica until her high school years, residing in Freeport, IL and graduating from Freeport High School.  Nancy attended nurses training in Freeport and eventually went on to complete her training at Edwards Air Force Base in California.  Nancy achieved the rank of 2nd Lieutenant Reservist (nursing).  Nancy married Ronald E. Lassiter on June 23, 1972.

Nancy was the Director of Nursing at Freeport Manor Nursing home and Fair Oaks Nursing home for many years.  She enjoyed traveling to Utah to be with her son and grandchildren.  She also enjoyed attending annual trips with friends to the Mall of America and an occasional cruise.  She was a die- hard Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed following the NFL.

She is survived by her son, Chad Lassiter of Salt Lake City, Utah; her grandchildren, Payton Lassiter, Emerson Lassiter, Oliver Lassiter and Calvin Lassiter.  Her siblings, Linda Marcum of Freeport and Dennis (Vickie) Yokers of Newman, GA.  She also leaves behind her beloved cat, Shade.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Eaton and Florence (Bertram) Yokers and 1 nephew, Andrew Yokers.

Services will be held on Wednesday, February 7 2024 with a visitation beginning at 10:30am followed by a service at 11:30am all at Walker Mortuary.  A memorial has been established in her name at St. John United Church of Christ in Freeport.  Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com.
