Nathan R. Leopold, Sr., age 91 of Rock City, IL passed away at home surrounded by his family on Friday, November 14, 2025. He was born October 14, 1934 in Monroe, WI; the son of the late Fred and Marie (Salzer) Leopold. Nathan married Judy Martin on June 24, 1966.
He served in the United States Army, stationed in Korea where he was in charge of the Motor Pool Road Building Division. Farming was his passion. He was a lifelong farmer, working alongside his brother on the family farm. He was a member of the Stephenson County Farm Bureau. Nathan Sr. and Judy were also members of a lifelong card club.
He enjoyed watching WWE wrestling on TV and driving around the countryside visiting neighboring farms. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandkids. His family would like to give a special thank you to the nurses of SSM Health Hospice for their wonderful care.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Leopold; children, Nathan (Lisa) Leopold, Jr. and Cheryl (Scott) Cooper; grandchildren, Benjamin, Katie, Kara, Sarah, Jessie, Nicholas, Zachary, and Jonathan; great grandchildren, Ayvian and Astoria; brother, Roy Leopold; and sister, Linda Hanson. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Denny Hanson.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. A private interment will take place at Frankeburger Cemetery in Rock City. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name. Condolences may be shared with his family at www.walkermortuary.com .
