Freeport-Neal A. Huber, 84, of Freeport, died Sunday, November 12, 2006, at Stephenson Nursing Center. Born August 12, 1922 in rural Freeport he was the son of Alfred and Agnes (Nuesse) Huber. He married Betty L. Vrtol July 20, 1946 in Freeport and she died October 20, 2005 in Freeport. Neal was an Air Force veteran serving stateside from 1943 through 1945. His memberships included Embury United Methodist Church; Cardinal Capers travel Club, and Card Club. He was retired from Case Power & Equipment in Rockford. Surviving is his daughter, Kristi Voss of Scioto Mills; sons, Craig (Cindy) Huber of Ocklawaha, Florida and Jeffrey (Karlene) Huber of Apple Canyon Lake; one sister, Joanne (Dr. William) Hermsmeier of Delevan, Wisconsin; 6 grandchildren, Kim and Lindsay Huber, Eric and Ryan Huber, Amanda and Kyle Raymond; 2 great grandchildren, Cameron and Sherell Huber. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and 1 grandchild. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Embury United Methodist Church with Reverend D. Robin Benson officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary. A memorial has been established in his name.
