Nettie Marie Hendren, 92, of Freeport passed away peacefully October 21, 2014.
Nettie is survived by her brother Kenneth Nott, two children: Kaye (Joel) McCulloch and Cynthia (Larry) Teller. Grandchildren: Crista (Dean) Larsen, Alan Teller, Stephen Teller, Kimberly McCulloch, Michael Teller and Daniel Teller. Eight Great Grandchildren and many beloved friends and family.
Preceded in death by: her parents, husband Johnnie, three brothers, half-sister and son-in-law
Born January 29th, 1922 in Rock City, IL, Nettie was a proud graduate of Orangeville High School. Happily married to her WWII Veteran, sweetheart, Johnnie Hendren for 68 years. Nettie worked as an Administrative Assistant at the Freeport Clinic for 30 years. Achieved "Business Woman of the Year" accolades from the American Business Woman Association. During her "retirement" she applied her creative talents through cake decorating at the Dairy Queen and designing fabric arts for sale and presents. Throughout her life, Nettie shared her musical gifts with her family based bands "Nettie and the Boys" and the "Rock Run Ramblers". Jamming at the Stephenson County Fair, nationwide Bluegrass Festivals, and entertaining numerous locals. In her leisure time, she enjoyed house boating, RVing, sharing kitchen creations and socializing with friends and celebrating family.
Services will be held at 11:30am, Monday October, 27th 2014 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Freeport, IL. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. Monday until time of service at the church. Interment services will be at Oakland Cemetery with fellowship to follow.
