Norma J. Gentz , age 88 of Beloit, WI, formerly of Rockton, IL, passed away Monday, April 9, 2018 at the Beloit Memorial Hospital. She was born December 11, 1929 in Rock City, IL to the late Edward and Grace (Zimmerman) Hufford. She graduated from Dakota High School in Dakota, IL. Norma married James Gentz on July 5, 1947.

She had worked several places in downtown Rockton, including Hub Drug Store, Bee Hive Restaurant, Dora's Dinning, and the White Star Inn. She was also active in helping out with the Girl Scouts. Norma and Jim were members of the Old Stone Church in Rockton for almost 50 years where she also sang in the church choir. She was also a member of the Beloit Ladies Choir for several years. Norma played piano and the organ. She also loved working crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her husband Jim Gentz of Beloit; children, Diana (John) Cully of Hilton Head, SC, Dennis (Lori) Gentz of Clarksville, TN, Debra (Tom) Kurz of Katy, TX, Dalon Gentz of Davis, IL, and Daryl (Tracy) Gentz of Rockton; grandchildren, Natalie Kurz of Houston, TX, Patrick (Maureen) Kurz of Raleigh-Durham, NC, Amanda (Kevin) Mansfield of Lake Mills, WI, Michael Gentz of Freeport, and Brendan Gentz of Rockton; great granddaughter, Clare Kurz; and brother, Albert Hufford of Freeport. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant son, Donald.
