Norma Jean Heeren, 82, of Snow Camp, North Carolina, formerly of Freeport, was taken home by the Angels on April 6, 2014, to be with The Lord and her predeceased loved ones. Norma was a member of the Freeport Masonic Eastern Star.
Born May 15, 1931 in Freeport she was the daughter of Paul and Marie (Groshans) McLain.
Surviving are her children, Gay Diane (Rick) Kellett of Surprise, Arizona, Stephanie Jean (Dennis) Erickson of Rockton, Illinois, and Holly Marie (Claude) Sterkowicz-Patterson of Snow Camp, NC also ex-husband Rick Sterkowicz; sister, Judith Lindstrom of Freeport; three grandchildren; Noelle (Walker) Wicevich, Sean (Ashley) Kellett and Stephan Erickson, also her faithful companion, her dog Tilly.
She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Marie McLain, husbands Lyle Mathiot and Arnold Heeren and one son, Stephen Mathiot.
Norma worked at Crum & Foster and 42 years as a housekeeper in many homes and business locations in Freeport.
She also enjoyed selling McNess products at the flea market, vacationing and doing word search puzzles.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Walker Mortuary. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to time of service Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Walker Mortuary.
A memorial has been established for Friends Forever Humane Society.
