Obituary

Norma Jean Taylor, 84 of Freeport, formerly of Rock City passed away Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Parkview Home in Freeport where she was a resident since January 2009.
She was born January 26, 1929 in Freeport, the daughter of Harry A. and Verna M. (LaFurge) Raymer. Norma married Leslie Taylor he preceded her in death in 1994.
A 1947 graduate of Dakota High School, Norma was formerly employed by Burgess Battery Company of Freeport. She and her late husband owned and operated the Taylor Grocery Store in Rock City for many years. Norma was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Davis, where she taught Sunday school. She also attended Rock City United Methodist Church in Rock City and was a member of Rock City United Methodist Women's group.
Survivors include nephews, Ronald (Betty) Spickler of Gurnee, Gary (Valene) Spickler of Lakeville, MN and David (Ann) Raymer of Machesney Park; other nieces, nephews and cousins; special friend Alice (Robert) Otterstein of Rock City.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister Gertrude; brother-in-law Richard Spickler; brother Kenneth and sister-in-law Alice Raymer.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the Rock City United Methodist Church with Reverend James Ketzel officiating.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the church.
Burial will be in the Davis Cemetery in Davis, IL.
A memorial has been established in her name.
