Norman James Oyer, age 71 of Ridott, IL, went to be with the Lord, Friday, October 28, 2022. He was born January 11, 1951 in Champaign, IL; the son of Elmer and Ida (Yoder) Oyer. He married Sherrill Rappleyea in Fisher, IL on June 19, 1970. He graduated from Fisher High School and Illinois State University. He was a Comptroller for Stephenson Service Company, a Journey Man for Schnuch's, and clerked for Schrader's Sale Barn. He was an active member of Freeport Mennonite Church, where he served as Treasurer. He had also taught Sunday School and served on the State Conference Board.

Surviving are his wife, Sherrill Oyer of Ridott; one son, Christian J. Oyer of Ridott; one daughter, Jennifer (Cesar) Herrera; their grandchildren, Santiago, Lucas, and Sofia Herrera, all of Rockford, IL and brothers, Gary (Janet) of Vancouver, WA and Darryl (Connie) of Milwaukee, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral service will be held at Freeport Mennonite Church on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. There will be a visitation before the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at the Freeport Mennonite Church Cemetery.
