Norman E. Schneider, 74, of Freeport, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at the V.A. Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.
Born June 11, 1933 in Freeport he was the son of George and Marie (Deery) Schneider. He married Jean Packard August 27, 1955.
Norman was a local auto and motorcycle mechanic for several companies in the Freeport area.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Norman enjoyed restoring cars, street rods, and repairing guns.
Surviving are his wife, Jean of Freeport; his children, Brian (Carol) Schneider of Kankakee and Sandra (Vernon Collin) Schneider of Rock city; 3 grandchildren, Kimberly Schneider, Kevin Schneider, and Kyle Collin; 2 great grandchildren; and 1 brother, George (Joyce) Schneider of Elgin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 son; Wayne; and 2 brothers.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Private family services will be held.
His cremated remains will be interned at the Grandview Cemetery.
