Freeport: Opal Pauline (Long) Burd passed away Sunday March 11, 2007 at FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport. Opal was born January 5, 1926 on the family farm in Lancaster Township in Stephenson County, Illinois. She was the daughter of Roy C. and C. Fern (Dornink) Long. She was a 1943 graduate of Dakota High School and married her high school sweetheart, Dale E. Daughenbaugh, on November 11, 1943. Dale was killed in action February 1945 during WWII, in Germany.
