Freeport-Opal M. Wade, 96, of Freeport, died Saturday, August 12, 2006, at Freeport Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.
Born December 28, 1909 in Conway Springs, Kansas she was the daughter of William and Lillie (Hock) Thompson. She married David L. Wade June 8, 1933 in Dixon and he died March 25, 1983 in Freeport.
Opal was a teacher, then farmed with her husband, and then worked for Micro Switch as a Draftsman for 16 years retiring in 1972.
She was a member of Embury United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Donna (Duane) DeVoe of Lena and Beverly (Duke) Herrling of Freeport; 6 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 3 sisters; and 4 brothers.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Her memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, September 3, 2006 at Walker Mortuary.
There will be a gathering Sunday 2 p.m. until time of service at the Mortuary.
A memorial has been established in her name for the Highland Community College Foundation.
