Freeport: Orville E. Martin, 73, died Tuesday February 22, 2005 at his home after a short illness. Born August 2, 1931 in Apple River, IL he was the son of Earl J. and Bessie (Luy) Martin. On February 9, 1952 he married Nancy Gerloff in Dubuque, IA. Orville worked for the LaForge Company for 17 years and then worked for Structo, Newell and Star Manufacturing Company's until his retirement. After his retirement he was a rural route driver for the Freeport Journal Standard. Surviving is his wife, Nancy of Freeport; One Son, Donald (Marcia) Martin of Freeport; One Daughter, Judi (Burnham) Martin of McConnell; One Brother, Leo (Rhonda) Martin of Colorado. Four Grandchildren, Four Great Grandchildren, two Step Grandchildren, four Step Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. His parents, four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Cremation rites where accorded. A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Walker Mortuary with the Reverend Herbert Bollman officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday. A memorial has been established in his name.
