Orville H. Streicher , age 86 formerly of Elizabeth, of Freeport, IL passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Manor Court in Freeport, IL. He was born January 20, 1931 in Freeport General Hospital, Freeport; the son of Jesse and Clara (Reusch) Streicher. He was a 1949 graduate of Elizabeth High School. He served in the U.S. Army as a radio repairman during the Korean War, 1952-1954. Following his release form the Army, Orville worked for Elizabeth Electric and in his own business, Streicher Radio & TV Service. On September 5, 1959 he married Carolyn Streicher in Elizabeth. In 1966, he started to work for Eaton Corporation in Hanover, IL and in 1977 he was transferred to Eaton Corporation in Carol Stream, IL. At his retirement from Eaton, he and his wife moved to Freeport where he did volunteer work for Freeport Area Church Cooperative and RSVP. The couple lived in Elizabeth, IL until 1977 when they moved to Batavia, IL. Orville was a member of Freeport Faith United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn; sister-in-law, Dorothy Streicher; nine nieces and nephews and their spouses; and great nieces and nephews and a few cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Eugene and LaVerle; sister, LaVonne Lieb; sister-in-law, Virginia Streicher; and brother-in-law, Ervin Lieb. His body was donated to medical research.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, 1440 S. Walnut Ave, Freeport, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to time of service. Memorials in Orville's memory may be given to Sleezer Youth Home, P.O. Box 895, Freeport, IL 61032.
