Patricia Ann Hollister, age 79 of Freeport, IL, was reunited with her husband and parents when she passed peacefully on July 4, 2026. She was born in Freeport on March 31, 1947 to William Johann Frederick Schult and Isabel Marie (Richolson) Schult. Pat spent many years as a member of the Girl Scouts of America and later graduated from Freeport High School in 1965. Pat married Curtis Lee Hollister on June 17, 1967 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Freeport. Together, they welcomed six children. While her primary focus was raising her children, she also worked over the years at General Casualty Insurance as well as assisting her daughter, Melissa, with her daycare.
Pat will be remembered for her strong dedication to her family and her faith in God. When she wasn’t spending time with her children and grandchildren, Pat enjoyed camping and crafts like painting, sewing, crocheting and cake decorating. Ever the social butterfly, her conversations became a gift for anyone so blessed to be included, whether it be at church, the doctor’s office, her GNO nights, her neighbors or anywhere about town.
Pat is survived by her children, Naleta (Greg) Bilgri, Melissa (Allen) Hayunga, Bill (Melissa) Hollister, Tom (Kirsten) Hollister, Dan( Sarah) Hollister, Amanda (Steve) Collier and her grandchildren, Alyson (Joshua) Harbaugh, Megan Hayunga, Ethan (Lauren) Bilgri, Sydney (Jeremiah) Green, Evan Hollister, Abigale Hollister and Scott, Isabell, Lucas and Emma Collier as well as her brother-in-law, Steve (Carol) Hollister and their children. Pat was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of Liberty Village, Mercy Health/FHN and Mercy Health Hospice for the dedication and care that was provided in those final days.
Visitation will be held at 9am -11am on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Freeport, IL. A service will immediately follow at 11am also at the church. A memorial has been established in her name.
