Patricia Carolynn Nesemeier, 74, passed away on Saturday February 18, 2023, at home with loved ones by her side after a long fight with cancer. Carol, as she wanted to be known by, was born on December 18, 1948 in Sikeston, Missouri to Elva Mae and William Lawrence Massey. Carol married Vincent W. Nesemeier Jr in Freeport on April 12, 1969. He passed in 2010.
For 38 years, Carol worked for Micro Switch then Honeywell in Freeport. She loved her job and her co-workers and only retired due to health problems.
Carol was very proud of her children and grandchildren. She loved to spend her days before work watching the grandkids, going to garage sales, having pool days in the side yard, or setting up her Christmas Villages with them.
Carol had a strong faith in Christ and for many years played piano at church and would also play on her piano at home singing hymns.
Carol was a skilled crafter making flower arrangements for weddings or making wreaths for home decorating. She loved her animals and always had a fur baby to take care of. Carol loved being outside in her yard taking care of the landscape or at Christmas time setting up her inflatables.
Carol is survived by her faithful cat, Jinx; one brother, Ken (special friend, Robbi Zellar) Massey of Hudson, Florida; one daughter, Erin C. (Jason) Descheemaker of Dakota; one son, Kenneth W. (Kim) Nesemeier of Dakota; grandchildren, Cole Nesemeier, Chase Descheemaker and Jason Descheemaker Jr.; step-grandchildren, Tanner, Geoffrey and Madalyn Steffan; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who were like her family.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, both of her parents, brothers, Clyde and Arbon Massey, sister, Maezell "Sam" Shephard and Infant sister Lena Murl Massey.
The family would like to extend their great appreciation to FHN Hospice and especially their nurse, Mark who made a lasting impression on Carol and her entire family.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 10am – 12pm at Walker Mortuary. A service will immediately follow at 12 noon also at Walker Mortuary with Pastor Steve Rios officiating the service. Her final resting place will be next to her husband at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
