Freeport – Paul E. Brauer, 76 of Freeport passed away peacefully with family at his side at Medina Nursing Center in Durand, Illinois on June 2, 2025.  He was born on August 12, 1948 in Freeport to the late Merwin and Mary (Seebauer) Brauer.  He and Mary Keller were married on October 27, 2017 and together they built a life of love and friendship.

He was a retired Air Force veteran of 26 years serving our country.  He enjoyed many things in life such as camping, fishing, bowling, darts, playing cards, participating in local club organizations such as the White Eagles Club, the American Legion Post 1207 of Rockford and the Blackhawk Athletic Club.  He was also a lifetime member of the VFW.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren the most.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Keller Brauer of Freeport/Rockford; Sons, Steve (Dawn) Brauer of Freeport. Christopher (Ruby) Brauer of TX; daughter, Amy (Celia) Spencer – Brauer of Redlands, CA; Brother, Dean (Pam) Brauer of Wichita, KS; eight grandchildren and several half siblings.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Mary E. (Reynolds) Brauer, his sister, Sue Donmeyer and brother, Adrian Brauer and Don Fehr.

There will be a visitation held on Tuesday, June 10 from 4-7pm at Walker Mortuary.  There will be a service held on Wednesday, June 11, at 10:30am also at Walker Mortuary.  His final resting place will be at Chapel Hill with full military honors.  Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com.
