Paula J. Schwartz, age 71 of Freeport, IL passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Saturday February 7, 2026.
She was born May 28, 1954 in Freeport, Illinois. The daughter of Paul and June (Weber) Moss. She graduated from Freeport High School in 1972. She married James Schwartz on March 1, 1975. Together they spent 50 wonderful years together.
Paula was a homemaker and loved to take care of her family. She loved her children, grandkids, and her animals. She loved family holidays, and family get-togethers and socializing with friends over a cup of coffee. She touched the lives of everybody she met, and will be greatly missed
She is survived by her husband, James of Freeport; children, Sarah (Arnie) Terry of Orangeville, Illinois. Elizabeth (Aaron) Hanford of Freeport, Illinois. Andrew (Angela) Schwartz of Forreston, Illinois. Sister Judith (James) Fosler of Freeport, Illinois. Grandchildren, Colin Owens of Rockford, Illinois, Morgan Owens of Orangeville, Illinois. Lily Hanford and Madison Hanford of Freeport, Illinois. Brody Schwartz and Blakely Schwartz of Forreston, Illinois. Aunt Bonnie (Lyle) Raymond. Several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and June (Weber) Moss.
There will be a visitation held at Walker Mortuary on Monday, February 16, 2026 beginning at 10am. A service will immediately follow at 11am also at Walker Mortuary with Pastor Zachary Klatt of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating the service. Her final resting place will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at FHN/Mercy Health for the special care they gave our mother. A memorial has been established for the American Heart Association.
