Freeport-Pauline M. Lorenz, 96, of Freeport, died Wednesday April 14, 2004 at the home of her daughter in Davis Junction, Illinois.
Born August 27, 1907 in Freeport she was the daughter of Otto and Wilhelmina (Kalbe) Kieckhaefer. She married John Lorenz December 31, 1934 and he died December 8, 1984.
She attended Freeport schools and graduated from Freeport Senior High School in 1926.
She was employed at Stover Manufacturing and then for 20 years at F.A. Reads in the accessory department, which became Weise's, retiring in 1978.
A lifetime member of Zion Church she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Amity Society and Ladies Aid of the church.
An avid card player she was also a Pink Lady at the Freeport Hospital.
Surviving are two sons, Jon (Karen) Lorenz of Aurora and James (Karen) Lorenz of Freeport; one daughter, Jenean (Sgt. Nelson) Preston of Davis Junction, Illinois; three grandchildren, Dr. Krista Lorenz of Belgrade, Montana, Christopher Lorenz of St. Cloud, Florida, and Joshua (Kelly) Lorenz of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers; 6 sisters.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorial services will be Friday 11 a.m. at Walker Mortuary with Reverend John T. Dale of Zion Church officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call Friday 9 a.m. until time of service at Walker Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for Zion Church.
