Obituary

Pauline R. Sager, 74 of Freeport formerly of Dakota passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday December 1, 2009 at FHN Memorial Hospital. Born December 17, 1934 in rural Freeport, she was the daughter of Donald and Emma (Tamling) Maize. She was a 1952 graduate of Dakota High School, and lived her entire life in the Dakota - Orangeville area. On May 11, 1955 she and Darrell D. Sager were married at the Winneshiek EUB Church in rural Freeport. He preceded her in death on December 6, 2003. For many years Pauline enjoyed working at the Orangeville Community Bank. She was a member of the Winneshiek Evangelical Free Church where she taught Sunday school, was a song leader, and the church treasurer. She also served as a Stephenson County election judge for the past several years.
She enjoyed traveling, playing card and board games with family and friends, Friday morning coffee gatherings, cheering on the Cubs on TV, and being a member of the Joy Singers.
Most of all she treasured her most prized possession, her entire family, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Pauline will especially be remembered for her genuine kindness and spontaneous smile.
She is survived by two daughters Darlene (Nathan) Babler of Rock City, Donna (Dean) Obert of Dakota; one son Randall (Wendy) Sager of Rock City; six grandchildren Timothy Babler of Orangeville, Brian (Tamber) Babler of Dakota, Amber Babler of Rock City, Nicole and Eric Obert both of Dakota, Jeremy Wand of Davis; two great grandchildren Haley and Isabelle Wand of Davis; three sisters Florence Fawver of Freeport, Annabelle (Donald) Welling of Rock City, Carol Contardi of Holley, New York; four brothers Lawrence (Betty) Maize of Durand, Delmar (Linda) Maize, Jerry (Marcia) Maize both of Freeport and Lyle (Debra) Maize of Dakota and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister Deloris Martz.
Funeral service will be Monday 10:30 a.m. at Winneshiek Evangelical Free Church. Visitation will be Sunday 2pm until 5pm at Daughenbaugh Funeral home Dakota and Monday 9:30 am until the time of service at the Church.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Freeport.
