Freeport-Pearl E. Bessert, 94, of Freeport, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, January 28, 2004, at Provena St. Joseph Nursing Center.
Born February 12, 1909 in Freeport she was the daughter of Christ and Dorothy (Wittbecker) Kubatzke. She married Walter W. Bessert March 26, 1930 in Freeport. Walt and Pearl shared 65 years together before his death on July 12, 1995.
She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.
A loving mother and grandmother she enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved crocheting, sewing, and working in her garden.
Surviving is one son, Larry (Mary) Bessert of Overland Park, Kansas; one daughter, Audrey (Douglas) Firebaugh of Freeport; one son in-law, Eugene Shade of Freeport;
seven grandchildren, Christal (David) Ifert of Freeport; Michael (Evelyn) Shade of Northbrook, Kelly (Kathy) Shade of Bullhead City, Arizona, Tamra Richards of Olathe, Kansas, Tonya (Eddie) Wortman of Tampa, Florida, Michele Firebaugh of Aurora, and Dena (Karl) Guth of St. Charles, Missouri, fourteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Norma Shade; six brothers; one sister.
Funeral service will be Saturday 10:30 a.m. at Walker Mortuary with Reverend Paul Learman of Our Savior Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Cemetery.
Friends may call Saturday 9 a.m. until time of service at Walker Mortuary
