Peter H. Kanzler , age 50 of Freeport, IL, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2020 at FHN Memorial Hospital. He was born April 2, 1969 in Dixon, IL; the son of the late Thomas and Monika (Grondziel) Kanzler, Sr. Peter married the love of his life, Sara Wallace on August 29, 2009.

He was a 1987 graduate of Dixon High School. After graduating he went on to serve in the United States Army during the Gulf War. He worked as a chef, and later for the United States Postal Service. Together, Peter and Sara owned and operated PHK Bicycles in Freeport.

He attended First Free Methodist Church in Freeport. He was also a member and former Commander of the Freeport VFW. Peter's passion was bicycles, he especially loved BMX bicycles and raced them in his younger years.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Sara Kanzler of Freeport; sisters, Anita Kanzler and Corrina (Lyle Smith) Kanzler both of Dixon; brothers, Thomas (Dawn) Kanzler, Jr. and Timothy L. Kanzler, both of Dixon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandfather, Louie Kanzler.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 7 ^th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Walker Mortuary in Freeport. The funeral service will be on Saturday, February 8 ^th at 11:00 a.m. at First Free Methodist in Freeport with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Grandview Cemetery in Freeport.
