Petunia J. Haight, age 94 of Freeport, IL, passed away Friday, November 25, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Society in Mt. Carroll, IL. She was born February 11, 1922; the daughter of the late Norm and Signe (Johnson) Foss. She attended Freeport High School. Petunia married James Haight on August 1, 1941; he passed on August 6, 2002.

She was a member of the Salvation Army Corp. Petunia was a homemaker and a faithful servant of God. She loved to travel, embroider and cook. Petunia and James loved spending time together and they started the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Haight of Freeport, IL; sons, James (Sharon) Haight of Forreston and Richard (Cheryll) Haight of Freeport; 14 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Parents; husband, James; sisters, Norma Walters, Alice Wiendnd, Martha Nester, June Lynn and Edith Kruger; and brother, Johnny Foss.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 3rd at 12:00 pm at Walker Mortuary in Freeport. There will be a visitation before the service beginning at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established.
